STEM Japanese Restaurant

Sharing a Taste of STEM Restaurant with a Digital Audience. StudioTPM helped award-winning STEM to share its story and promote its brand to an online audience.

The Brand

Established in 2017 by Chef Tatsuya and Chef Yoshi, STEM is an inviting space where traditional Japanese kappo cuisine in a quiet neighborhood in Burnaby, BC. Vancouver is renowned for its great selection of top-notch Japanese restaurants. STEM sets itself apart from the competition with creative dishes, uncompromising attention to detail, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Already well-known in Vancouver, Chef Tatsuya and Chef Yoshi just required some help telling their story to promote their exciting new restaurant. In line with typical Japanese culture, the chefs are refined, modest, and soft-spoken—wonderful qualities that contribute to the overall atmosphere of their beautiful restaurant. However, the chefs found it difficult to promote themselves and their many accolades. They turned to StudioTPM for some assistance.

StudioTPM took the time to learn about our business and it shows. They captured our restaurant’s story and ambiance beautifully—you can almost taste the food and feel the welcoming atmosphere as you scroll through the site.

The Perfect Recipe for STEM’s Digital Experience

StudioTPM worked closely with the chefs to gain a clear picture of their heritage and understand their brand identity. They built out the brand’s messaging and website content in a way that illustrated the chefs’ strengths.

“StudioTPM took the time to learn about our business and it shows. They captured our restaurant’s story and ambiance beautifully—you can almost taste the food and feel the welcoming atmosphere as you scroll through the site,” said Chef Tatsuya.

Once the story was captured, StudioTPM turned its focus on web design and development. They selected carefully curated imagery and custom-shot photography to showcase the high-quality food, skillful cooking processes, and wonderful restaurant experience.

StudioTPM wanted to ensure the web experience was as accessible as the restaurant itself so they built a user-friendly design and optimized it for both the desktop and mobile experiences.

Shortly after the launch of STEM’s new website experience, the restaurant won ‘Best New Restaurant Vancouver Magazine 2019’ and ‘Best Japanese Restaurant Vancouver Magazine 2019’.

The language on the page TPM produced was clean and simple enough to reach people in need of his services to improve their health and quality of life, but not so basic that it would drive away the experienced athletes he hoped to work with. It was clear; it was engaging; it was accessible. Seán was sold.

He tapped TPM to take over the task of establishing an online presence, identifying the demographics he needed to reach, and building campaigns that would engage those audiences.
